Introduction to Smartboards and Interactive Technology in the Classroom!
As the school systems are becoming more and more advanced in technology, teachers need to learn how to accomodate their teaching styles to better suit this new digital era. It is interesting to see this because even when I was in Junior High and High School, not all classrooms have Smartboards. Today, however, Smartboards are becoming more and more prevalent in the classroom, taking over and replacing the presence of whiteboards and blackboards. This is what made this weeks' module so incredibly relevant and interesting to my future as a teacher. I personally did not have much past experience with Smartboards, so having the opportunity to learn how to use one was very helpful, especially since it is almost guarenteed that I will be using one in my future classroom. We got to investigate technology other than Smartboards as well, and learn more about interactive technology as a whole in the classroom. Below, I have embedded the video of a lesson that I made using the SmartNotebook Application on my laptop, It touches on many different techniques and ways of making lessons more interactive while making use of the new technology in the classroom. Since I have interest in teaching biology (and the sciences as a whole) in the future, I have designed a short lesson using various techniques on the Smartboard to teach junior high biology. This lesson focuses specifically on the different parts of the ear and the eye. Some of the techniques used are the Drag and Drop feature, the Crossord feature and the Multiple Choice Question generator. It focused on having students interact with the material in a way that will be helpful for them to remember in the future. If you have any questions at all, please do not hesitate to contact me.
